AHS rescues 115 cats from rural Todd County property

SEND US A MESSAGE

On March 26, the Animal Humane Society’s Critical Response Team rescued more than 100 cats from a rural Minnesota property where they were living in unsanitary conditions without adequate care and shelter.

The cats — many unsterilized — were living in a mobile home and portable buildings on a rural Minnesota property where breeding had gotten out of control. AHS partnered with the property owners and caregivers, who willingly released the animals.

The Critical Response Team recovered 115 cats, one rabbit, and one chinchilla from the property and transported them to the Animal Humane Society’s Golden Valley shelter. The condition of the cats is consistent with living in unsanitary, overcrowded conditions. Each animal received initial medical exams and behavior evaluations, along with food, shelter, and core vaccines. Some animals will be available for adoption immediately, while many still need lots of attention and care.
