Thief caught in the act
On May 14, at 10:45 a.m., Jeromy Sharp of Sharp’s Garage contacted the Eagle Bend Police Department about suspicious activity caught on his security cameras of a person rummaging through vehicles and placing items in his pockets. While visiting the shop, Police Chief Bobby Berndt was told by a customer about a suspicious person behind the shop. Berndt approached a man rummaging through the vehicles. John Lofgren, 64, of Bertha was arrested by Berndt and transported to the Todd County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with felony burglary and possession of burglary tools.
Car stolen from Bertha recovered in South Dakota
On April 19, at 5:30 p.m., a 1999 Dodge Durango owned by Kelly Woelfel was reported stolen from Seip Drug in Bertha. The keys were left in the vehicle. Courtney Glaser, 28, of South Dakota was apprehended that night in South Dakota by the State Patrol where she was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle pending a mental evaluation and felony theft of a motor vehicle in Minnesota. A warrant was issued by the state of Minnesota. Woelfel was able to retrieve the car in South Dakota.
