Representatives of Dan’s Prize and Hormel Foods stopped by the Browerville Food Shelf on September 4 to surprise Food Shelf Director Renae Buhl with a $7000 donation.
“We really appreciate you and what you do for the community,” said Jeff Tobak, president of Dan’s Prize.
Part of Dan’s Prize mission is to feed and support the communities in which they do business. They also donated to the food shelf in Long Prairie.
“Continue to feed America,” said Tobak.
“It’s amazing,” said Buhl about the generous donation. “I appreciate it.”
Dan’s Prize/Hormel Foods have been donating to the communities for the past 15 years. Last year they also donated $7000.
Buhl has been director for nearly a year and shared that more families have been utilizing the food shelf and believes it will continue to increase through the fall and winter. Buhl plans to purchase more groceries with the donated funds.
The Browerville Food Shelf is open on Wednesdays, but is closed on the fifth Wednesday of the month if there is five weeks. They are open from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m.
