Heavy rain on August 16 caused flooding in many areas including the creek in Bertha and in the Clarissa City Park (above). Three inches of rain was reported during the week of August 13-19, with Long Prairie reporting 2.51 inches and Hewitt reporting 1.35 inches on Wednesday the 16th. The storm produced two small tornadoes in the southern part of the state. The Todd County Sheriff's Office is asking boaters to observe a "no wake" period until the area lakes have a chance to return to normal levels to help avoid lake shore erosion and damage to lake shore properties.
