The winners of the first annual holiday decorating contest are Tim and Dawn Klimek of Eagle Bend. They have resided in this home the last two years, and have been decorating for the last seven. Their inspiration to decorate came from Anderson's Christmas in Wadena light show. The Klimeks have a six channel box that syncs their lights to Christmas music. They have purchased their decorations gradually over the years and foresee their display growing even more next year. Their mostly LED display is lit up from 4:30-11 p.m. every night. This year they also started a Christmas village that can be seen displayed in the window. Someone even stuck a newspaper clipping of this contest in the wreath on their door that said "Your lights are so pretty. You must enter!".
The Klimeks will receive a free one year subscription to the Independent News Herald, two coffee mugs with a picture of their award winning display printed on them, two free T-shirts with a design of their choice, and a goody basket. Congratulations!
Didn't enter this year? Remember to watch for our contest next year!
