Those of us who are wrestling fans or followers locally, already know that the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville Wolves Coach Jacob (Jake) Lorentz is an amazing coach and leader for his team.
Well, now the entire state knows since Coach was named the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association (MWCA) Overall Coach of the Year during the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association Dave Bartelma Hall of Fame Banquet held in Benson on Saturday, May 4.
He was also honored with being named the MWCA State Coach of the Year for Class A wrestling.
The ceremony was part of this year’s Hall of Fame induction with over 250 people in attendance.
According to an article in The Guillotine, “The MWCA selected Jake Lorentz as State Head Coach of the Year. Selected as State Assistant Coach of the Year was Lavern ‘Tuffy’ Hoard of Grand Rapids. Lorentz and Hoard, along with MWCA Mr. Minnesota Wrestler selection Greg Kerkvleit of Simley represent Minnesota as The National Wrestling Coaches Association’s State (NWCA) award winners, which qualifies them for further NWCA honors at the Regional and National levels.”
Coach Lorentz had previously been named the Class A Coach of the Year at the Minnesota State Wrestling Tourney on March 2. . . .
