Keeping the county safer Drone program is part of sheriff’s office

Sergeant John DeCock showed the drone in hover mode at the demonstration. He was showing the attendees the drone’s camera image on the television screen which was sitting on the back of his truck. This drone is a DJI Matrice 200.

If you hear a buzzing sound in the air, it might not be a bee, but the newest addition to the Todd County Sheriff’s Office—a drone.

When they first started thinking about a drone program for the department, Sheriff Steve Och said, “We weighed the options of a canine unit or a drone program. In going with the drone program we believe that the drones are more available as we were able to purchase two and with the FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) the drones are able to search a large area in a small amount of time.”
