Students tour fire hall during Fire Safety Week

During Fire Safety Week, elementary students visited the Verndale Fire Department to learn from the firemen how to prevent and protect themselves in case of a fire. Students learned that they should test smoke detectors every month, stop, drop and roll if their clothing catches fire, crawl through smoke to escape a fire, and sleep with their bedroom door closed. They also got to see the fire trucks up close and look at the gear firemen wear. Each student was given a goodie bag with candy and activities before returning to school.
