The results of the August 14 primary for the Wadena County auditor/treasurer office resulted in Heather Olson winning the majority with 772 votes.
Brian Hagen had 392 votes with incumbent Judy Taves following closely with 390. A recount was called. Curtis Kreklau Jr. had 231 and Stacy Smagacz, 223.
Normally, the county auditor would be in charge of the recount. With Taves being a candidate, the canvassing board chose Wadena City Administrator Janette Bower to oversee the recount.
According to Bower, the recount took six and a half hours and yielded the same results with Hagen two votes ahead of Taves.
Hagen will join Olsen on the November ballot.
