Police pursuit ends in arrest and discovery of meth

According to the Todd County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, July 28, at 5:40 p.m., Sauk Centre Police officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit that started at the intersection of Sinclair Lewis Avenue and Pine Street South. The chase quickly left town and went east on County Road 17. Just outside the city limits, near 390th Avenue, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and ended up getting stuck in a cornfield. The suspect then fled on foot.

Officers set up a perimeter in the area and after a several hour man hunt using drones, Flir equipment and K9s, officers were able to arrest the suspect.

A large amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine and items used for drug distribution were located in the suspect’s vehicle.

Corey Daniel Blare, age 33, of Sauk Rapids was arrested on charges of controlled substance possession, fleeing police officers and reckless driving charges. Blare was booked into the Stearns County Jail on the charges as well as several other felony warrants.

Assisting the Sauk Centre Police Department were the following agencies, Minnesota State Patrol, Todd County Sheriff’s Office, Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Melrose Police Department, Avon Police Department K-9 unit, Cold Spring Police Department K-9 unit. The Sauk Centre Fire Department also assisted on scene with traffic control.
