Eagle Bend community members have banded together to bring back the ice skating rink.
“It hasn’t been used in 10 years. Why don’t we do something with it?” questioned Kristie Sturges as the idea was tossed around.
Along with Sturges, Eric Monson, and many others in the community have chipped in to bring the full size rink back to life.
“It’s encouraging for me to see this. I wanted this town to offer more opportunities for kids and for families. This town has so much to offer. Eagle Bend still has a heartbeat. We have a bowling alley and an ice rink. How many towns of 500 can say that? We have a lot going on here,” said Monson,
“It’ll give the kids something to do to keep them out of trouble,” said Sturges.
They are hoping to have the rink ready soon, but that will depend on the weather. They are planning to add more water to smooth it out since last week’s warmer weather made the surface rough.
“It’s been here and hasn’t been used, so why not use it?” commented Monson. . . . .
