A labor of love . . .Blenkush volunteers with youth to help them succeed

May 15 was the perfect day for an outdoor track and field meet. It wasn’t too hot and it wasn’t too cold. There was a slight breeze—just enough to cool a person down but not enough to disrupt any events.
This was the kind of day that Sev Blenkush of Browerville loved to see.
“It was the first meet that had perfect conditions,” he said reflecting on that day.
The previous meets had been held indoors due to poor weather conditions—for example, snow!
“Our first outdoor meets the kids showed up in stocking hats and winter coats,” said Blenkush.
Spring sports in Minnesota are often a challenge with the weather including snow, rain and lately, even tornadoes! . . .
