A Matter of Perspective
I’ve been busy writing. After years of not meeting my goals for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), I still didn’t meet them! But instead, outside of the official times of NaNoWriMo’s regular month (November) and the camps, I completed four books. They were not 50,000 words each, but probably closer to 20,000 words each.
One is called “Finding Harmony” and is about finding a life/work balance.
Then, I had the idea from writing one of my blog posts about something I used to do when I was a kid. This is what I wrote in my blog: “When I was younger, I had thought about writing a prompt book. I can’t remember much about it now because I didn’t pursue it at the time. I just knew that I had tons of ideas for stories and no humanly possible way to write them all! I think I had called the book (in my mind, anyway) Story Starters. It was going to include prompts or one-line story ideas. I had hundreds and hundreds of book titles, and I thought I could turn most of them into prompts! Who knows? Maybe I will still do it!”
And so, that was what I did. I think the book includes 300 different writing prompts to help get the writer’s mind working. Prompts like these can help a person who is struggling with writer’s block or with finding new ideas about old topics.
The third book was actually one that I had written years ago, but I added to it. It is called “Lessons Learned from the Matrix.” It draws wisdom from the 1999 movie “The Matrix,” starring Keanu Reeves.
The most recent one is a compilation of 2019 posts (like this one). Again, I added about 500-1000 words to each article, elaborating on topics and thoughts that I had previously only touched on. It took quite a bit of time, but it was fun to reread what I had written at a different time in my life and see what had changed.
These are all available in paperback or e-books on Amazon. I am also having a book sale this month, and you can pick up your paperback copy at the news office in Clarissa. The books are less expensive, and you don’t have to pay for shipping if you get them from the news office.
I am working on a couple of other non-fiction books right now. One is on a passion of mine—affiliate marketing—and the other is on the anticipated fall of social security. I’ll add them to the collection when I get them completed. I am also planning to host a mini-course on affiliate marketing. I think I talked about this previously, but it is closer to completion now!
In the fiction world, I am also working on a book. This one will probably take me longer because I am creating a world and characters, and while God could create everything in six days, I am not God by any means! I’ve been working on this story for about a month and only have about 11 pages done.
