A Matter of Perspective

I don’t know about you, but I have been feeling like I am living in the Matrix lately.
In case you are unaware of what I am referring to, “The Matrix” is a groundbreaking sci-fi action film that follows Thomas Anderson, a computer hacker who discovers the world he knows is a simulated reality called the Matrix, controlled by sentient machines. Guided by the mysterious Morpheus and the skilled warrior Trinity, Neo (Anderson’s hacker alias) is awakened to the truth and trained to fight the machines. As he learns to bend the rules of the simulation, Neo must embrace his destiny as “The One” and lead the human resistance. With revolutionary visual effects and philosophical depth, The Matrix explores reality, freedom, and the power of human choice.
There are many days when I feel like I have taken the “blue pill” as referenced in the movie.
In The Matrix, the red pill and blue pill symbolize a fundamental choice between truth and illusion:
Red Pill: Choosing the red pill means waking up to the real world—escaping the simulated reality of the Matrix and seeing things as they truly are, no matter how harsh or difficult. It represents truth, awareness, and the willingness to confront reality.
Blue Pill: Taking the blue pill allows the person to remain in the comfort and ignorance of the Matrix. Life continues as it was, with no memory of the offer—symbolizing illusion, safety, and denial.
Basically:
• Red pill = “truth, no matter what”
• Blue pill = “ignorance is bliss”
However, with today’s reality, can we really live in the feeling that “ignorance is bliss?”
I don’t think we can as much as we might like to.
As much as we might think we are living in a reality that seems computer generated, be aware that the “real” world is where things are happening that are shaping the current “reality” we live in.
It would be fun to live in ignorance, but I don’t think that is a very good reality for us.
We need to be aware of what is going on around us. And we need to see the truth.
Lines have been drawn and one “side” will not listen to the other “side.” That has got to stop. Untruths go back and forth until the “reality” becomes so blurry that neither side will back down or even attempt to “hear” what the other side is saying.
Personally, I am tired of the whole thing. But I will stand up for what I think is right no matter which “side” it is on.
Division is doing this country little good. We are entering “gray” territory and “gray” is dangerous for all of us.
Do yourself a favor and look at more than one source for your news. When you only see one “side” or another, you won’t see the whole truth of the matter.
When you don’t see the truth, you are living in a Matrix of your own creation.
