A Matter of Perspective

Some of you may have noticed a help wanted ad in our newspaper recently. The ad is looking for a reporter photographer.

None of us are quitting, but I am cutting back some on my hours.

Don’t get me wrong, I like my job, it is just that with raising a grandchild, having some health problems, and wanting to do more writing on my blogs and a book, I needed to take a break.

I will still be covering many of the meetings that I do now and helping put the newspapers together on Mondays. I will continue to update the website and send out the e-editions.

In a lot of ways, it will be like I never left! I will be writing fewer stories and not attending events, except maybe as a spectator. This is what I need right now.

I am lucky to work for an employer who is allowing me this flexibility! For that I am grateful.

Health Updates

I am still working on getting my blood sugar numbers down, but it is slow going.

I continue to consume my “vomit drinks,” but I get kind of tired of them even though I can see the direct results when I do.

A couple of weeks ago I went to see an allergist. We are working on finding out what is causing my tongue and lips to swell up.

They did a bunch of pricks on my back and the only things I was tested for that I showed any allergic reaction to were cats, dogs, and cows!

Go figure. The very animals I grew up with.

These allergic reactions would account for the itchy eyes and sneezing. What they do not cause is swelling of the lips and tongue.

The doctor also ran a bunch of blood tests. There were no significant findings with most of the tests showing my results were within the normal range.

The bottom line...they currently do not know what is causing the swelling lips and tongue.

It’s back to the drawing board, I guess. The good news is that I haven’t had swollen lips or tongue in a few weeks now!

She ruled out any food allergies.

It’s a struggle because I never know when something or nothing will cause the swelling. It is some sort of inflammation, but what is causing it?

Unanswered Mystery

The mystery of the quarter...

I still have no answer. But I am still seeking one. I will keep you updated as this column is also one of the things I will continue to write.
