Another Slow Start Leads To Another Shootout Loss For The Bears

by Coach Jared Hoemberg

Last Friday, the Bertha-Hewitt Bears Football Team hosted the 0-3 Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Comets. At halftime, the team also honored the Bertha-Hewitt School Staff for all they do for the students.

“Coming into this game, we knew they were a very solid team even though their record was 0-3,” stated Coach Hoemberg.

Hillcrest’s first three losses came from the hands of Verndale, Wheaton-Herman Norcross, and Hancock. All three of those teams are ranked top ten in the state in the 9-Man Class.

The game had the same start as the last three games for the Bears, finding themselves down two scores early in the game.

“We’ve tried so many things this week to battle our slow starts. From changing our pregame routine to talking about it every day. It did not work, so we will be back to the drawing board,” said Coach Hoemberg. . .
