Bauer is happy to be serving the county
by Karin L Nauber
Jackie Bauer’s ties to Todd County are as strong as they come. She might have been born in Japan, with her dad in the Air Force and her mom working as a nurse, but it was the dairy farm between Long Prairie and Sauk Centre that truly shaped her. After moving back to Minnesota, Jackie’s days were filled with farm chores, 4-H projects, and showing cows at the Todd County Fair.
“I learned to work hard and be fearless,” she said, remembering the days of picking rocks, feeding calves, and swinging from ropes in the hay barn like it was yesterday.
Bauer went on to graduate from Sauk Centre High School before heading to St. Cloud State University.
These days, she’s happily married to her husband Gary, with three grown daughters, three wonderful sons-in-law, and three cherished grandchildren.
“My family is everything to me,” she said with a smile.
Her career started as a Career Counselor in higher ed, with gigs at both St. Cloud Technical & Community College and St. Cloud State University.
In 2009, she added a new hat by becoming the Township Clerk for Birchdale Township in Todd County.
It was that role that sparked her interest in government administration, eventually leading her to earn a Master’s in Higher Education Administration from SCSU.
So when the chance to apply for the Todd County Coordinator role came up, Jackie knew it was a natural fit....
