Bears drop 2 and claim 1 for the week
by Coach Steven Kvam
This past week saw the Bertha-Hewitt Bears get to the midpoint in their season. The Bears took on three conference foes starting Monday with the Menahga Braves. Tuesday was the first match up for the Bears and the Henning Hornets and Friday the Bears capped off the three game home stand with the Pillager Huskies.
Monday saw the Bears take on the conference-leading Menahga Braves at Bertha-Hewitt.
The Braves proved to be too much for the Bears, defeating them 70 – 33.
The Braves controlled the game from the tip. In the first match up of the season the Bears were overpowered on the boards, but in this game the Braves used their outside shooting to pull the Bears out of this game plan, hitting on 7 of 11 3-point field goals in the first half.
Leading the Bears in scoring was Piper Dean who finished with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
Michaela Barthel also had 8 points and 2 steals.
Kendal Beyatt added 6 points and 5 rebounds....
