Bears shine at Perham Invite

The Bertha-Hewitt Bears traveled to Perham for their annual invite on Thursday, October 10. This was a 31 team event that featured 11 state ranked teams from all three classes and 10 state ranked individuals from the three classes. This provided the Bears with plenty of competition and fast times on the warm, dusty and flat course.

Leading the way for the boys varsity team was Brady Rach placing 11th overall (16:27.4) followed by Henry Lockwood in 39th (17:24.0), Gunnar Barthel in 41st (17:24.7), Jalen Hinzmann in 75th (18:32.8), Gavin Brown in 90th (19:06.8), and William Brandsma in 144th (21:22.7).

The boys placed 9th overall and were the fourth place class A school out of 22 class A teams competing.

The girls varsity team was led by Kendra Miller in 32nd place who set a Bears season best time of 20:10.30.

Kendra was followed by Miette Hansel in 47th (20:37.2), Lezah Dean in 72nd (21:38.4), Aulani Johnson in 119th (24:04.1), Eva Blashack in 141st (25:51.6) and Mckayla Kapphahn in 142nd (25:59.6).

The Lady Bears placed 13th overall and were the 6th place Class A school in the 22 team class A field....
