Bertha-Hewitt superintendent receives verbal warning over conduct

The Bertha-Hewitt School Board has reprimanded Superintendent Eric Koep.
A verbal warning was issued on October 25, stemming from a documented interaction between the superintendent and a parent.
The superintendent engaged with the parent in a confrontational and intimidating tone, stating, “Zero tolerance. Do you understand? And if you talk to the coaches during a game one more time, like Friday night, you won’t be at a game for the rest of your kids’ career. You got that [omitted].”
The notice stated: As superintendent of the Bertha-Hewitt School District, you are expected to be an example of measured, professional, and appropriate communication at all times. Your behavior fell below the Board of Education’s expectations for you. In the future, you must remain in control of your emotions and be professional in your communications, actions, and behaviors. You must abide by district policy and act in alignment with a professional school environment. Continuing to act inappropriately within your position and failure to remain professional may result in further discipline up to and including termination of employment.
