BHVPP slides into holiday break
by Coach Michael Arvidson
The final week before Christmas was a busy one for the Raiders as they hosted a quadrangular in Verndale on Tuesday and finished with squads competing on both Friday and Saturday.
The home quadrangular began with a rematch of the Section 6A final from a year ago. This dual would play out in similar fashion as the regular season match-up from last year.
Adam Grabow got the Raiders on the board with a tech fall and Mason Hoffman followed with a pin for the 11-0 lead.
Osakis would answer with a tech fall and pin of their own to tie and take the lead 23-11 with two more pins.
Orran Hart and Evan Jares secured falls and we were knotted up again at 23.
Tanner Schulke gave BHVPP the 26-23 lead with a decision heading into the final four matches.
The Silverstreaks took care of business with three falls to capture the dual as Braden Shamp earned the pin to finalize the loss at 41-32.
The middle leg of the evening was against Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus.
Grabow sparked the dual with a fall and handed the torch to Hoffman to follow suit.
He passed the torch to Logan Becker to glue his opponent, and he passed the torch to Wyatt Jares who earned the major decision as the Raiders were out in front 22-0.
The Road Crew cut into the lead with a fall and tech fall before another Raiders run would put it out of reach.
Hart got the quick fall as Evan Jares added another pin and a technical fall from Schulke made it 39-11.
Both teams would get two pins each in the final four bouts as Owen Zigan and Shamp locked down the win at 51-23....
