The Elevate Youth Group at the Verndale Family Life Church had a very exciting evening on November 16 when they raised $7050 in that one night.
Youth Pastor Ryan Wolfenden introduced the Big Give Night last year to raise funds for their chosen missions. The Assemblies of God youth groups do this on the same third Wednesday in November each year. After the success of last year, they continued it again this year with stellar results.
This year, the youth group chose to donate to Venture, an organization fighting to end human trafficking. Specifically, they chose to donate to Nepal to help the Badi people whose children are often sold into sex trafficking.
During a youth convention, they heard the story of Hannah of the Badi people. Her sister was sold by someone they thought was a family friend for $30 into sex slavery in India where she was raped 20,000 times and had five children over eight years. . .
