On Thursday, May 26, at 6:47 p.m., the Todd County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a pedestrian, now identified as Riley Blake, who was struck by a vehicle on 8th Street West in Browerville.

According to the sheriff’s report, the driver of the vehicle was eastbound on 8th Street when 8-year-old Riley Blake ran from behind a parked car into the traffic lane.

Riley was struck and went under the vehicle.

After receiving medical treatment on the scene from deputies and the Browerville Ambulance, he was transported to CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie and then flown by North Air Care to the Children’s Hospital in the Twin Cities.

According to a gofundme page set up for Riley, he received numerous injuries including fractures to both arms, a fractured rib, and his pelvis.

He also has a lot of road rash along with 11 stitches in the back of his head.

According to his aunt Samantha Hamilton, “His mom has been with him every moment and will continue to be. With that being said she is out of work for the immediate future while Riley has to undergo a lot of therapy.”

All funds raised will go to Katie and Riley to help with medical costs as well as transportation to therapy.

As of May 31, Riley was able to return home. While he still has a very long road to recovery, the family is relieved that he was able to return home.
