The Browerville School Board met in regular session on Monday, August 14. The regular meeting included a meeting of the task force to discuss the remaining options for the gymnasium replacement and to prepare for future meetings with the voters in the district.
The discussion with the task force was, of course, focused on reducing the cost and getting closer to a cost estimate.
By August 25, the district needs to have their referendum question(s) submitted to the state for review and comment if the district plans to hold a special election. At this time, they do.
The task force heard an update on the insurance meeting. There is still no solid number yet on the amount insurance will pay for replacement cost.
There are many items that are yet to be agreed upon. However, Superintendent Scott Vedbraaten explained that there are many “buckets” from which the funds from insurance come or are paid to the district out of.
For example, the cost of the survey comes from one bucket, while the cost for engineering comes from another.
One thing is certain, the district needs a number from their insurance provider by August 23. . .
