Browerville School threat
by Karin L Nauber
On Tuesday evening, September 10, family and other people who receive the instant alerts from the Browerville Public School received this message and call:
“Good evening. This is Scott Vedbraaten, superintendent of Browerville Public Schools. This afternoon the district was made aware of a potential threat, which was immediately passed along to the Todd County Sheriff’s Department. Please know that the district takes this seriously. The Sheriff’s Department has investigated the situation, and classes will not be affected. We look forward to continuing a fantastic start of the school year as we celebrate homecoming. GO TIGERS!”
In a conversation with Superintendent Vedbraaten later in the week, he explained what had happened.
“I received a call from a parent whose child had overheard a conversation with some other students who said that another student had said something,” he said.
“We take this seriously. I immediately reported it to the Todd County Sheriff’s Department who went over to the kid’s house. He admitted he was angry and had said something.
“The Sheriff’s Department assured us their was no intent and that everything was okay.
“Our number one concern is the safety of our kids,” said Vedbraaten. “We don’t take this sort of talk lightly.”
The alert had been sent out to quell any rumors and to let people know they take any threats seriously.
