Café 71 opens in Browerville under new ownership: Kellens offer modern decor with a new menu

by Karin L. Nauber

AJ and Haley Kellen are hoping that their new cafe—Café 71 in Browerville—formerly The Cafe—will make their dream of owning and operating a small-town cafe a reality.

They opened the doors to the newly remodeled restaurant on Browerville’s Main Street (Highway 71) on Thursday, September 1.

But there was a lot involved in getting the restaurant ready.

AJ said they put in over 60 new lighting fixtures.

The bright and cheery look really stands out. They also painted with new color schemes and added a few antique decorations that really mesh well with the modern look.

You might recognize AJ Kellen as he is from Browerville and graduated in 2010.

Haley is originally from Brainerd and graduated from high school there in 2012.

“We met in Wadena where he was going to school to be a power lineman and I was attending school in Brainerd for dental assisting,” shared Haley. . .
