Christian Academy is now a reality

The exterior of the Verndale Family Life Church features a newly paved parking lot and a 14 foot tall awning that is high enough for buses and semis to pass underneath.

The ceremonial ribbon was cut at the grand opening of the Verndale Area Christian Academy on June 29.

Much work has taken place with new construction inside and outside to prepare them for their first day of school on July 12.

Pastor Amos Self took on the role of general contractor for these various projects to improve the building as well as safety aspects.

The most prominent feature that can be seen by those passing by is the large awning extending over the main entrance. The 14-foot high structure will easily allow for semi and bus traffic to pass underneath.

This building project had been discussed for several years and Self is looking forward to seeing it used as a second lobby to converse with others while enjoying the outdoors.

The main entrance will now be shielded from the rain and snow, making it safer to enter and exit the building, as well as less snow shoveling. . .
