by Karin L. Nauber
It is getting close to that time of year again. No, I’m not talking about road construction season!
It is almost time for elections. It doesn’t seem possible but filing for many state and county elections has already taken place with the official filing ending on May 31. Filing began on May 17.
Cities will have their filing for office dates in August.
There are many items coming up for the 2022 election. Here is a list from the Minnesota Secretary of State's website.
All voters will have these races on their general election ballot:
• U.S. Representative
• Governor and Lt. Governor
• Secretary of State
• State Auditor
• Attorney General
• State Senator
• State Representative
• Judicial seats
Voters may have one or more of these races on their ballot:
• County Officials
• City Officers
• School Board Members
• Township Officers
• Local ballot questions
There will be several races that will be of interest locally including two commissioner seats in Todd County.
The primary elections will be held on August 9 with the general election being held on November 8.
Todd and Wadena counties are together for most of the State due to redistricting including sharing candidates for Congressional District 07, House District 05B, and Senate District 05.
The following have filed for office by the May 31 deadline and are listed in no particular order along with the party they represent. . . .
