Could a roundabout cure the plague of accidents: The Minnesota Department of Transportation hopes it will

by Karin L Nauber

There have been multiple accidents each year at the intersection of Highways 210 and 71 in Hewitt.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is working on doing something about that through a potential roundabout at the intersection.

Presently, there are stop signs for travelers on Highway 210.

The intersection has been changed over the years including making a slight curve on 210 with the intention of slowing drivers before the intersection. There have been flashing lights installed and the speed limit on Highway 71 has been reduced to 45 miles per hour (MPH).

All those things may have helped to some degree, however accidents still plague that intersection....
