Cross country off to a great start

Bertha-Hewitt opened up the 2021 cross country season at the 56th annual Central Minnesota Run in Staples.

Seventh-grader Kendra Miller won the JH race with a time of 9:55.1 and teammate Aulani Johnson finished 4th.

The JH boys race saw three Bertha-Hewitt kids place in the top 10 with Henry Lockwood winning it with a 9:24.3. Isaac Radniecki finished 3rd and Gunnar Barthel finished 8th.

The varsity boys team finished 4th on the day behind Staples-Motley, Fergus Falls, and Park Rapids. Seventh-grader Brady Rach was the HS boys individual champion running a personal best of 17.41. Senior Aden Rach finished 18th in the strong field of runners. . .
