Don’t throw your masks out yet... The CDC is recommending masks for us, again

by Karin L. Nauber

“It won’t bother us. It will be fine. We know what to expect this time. The first time around, we didn’t know what was happening. Now we do,” said Pastor Kali Christensen during her morning service on Sunday, August 15 in regard to news that we may have to begin wearing masks again.

According to recent reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), wearing masks again is being highly recommended for many Minnesota counties including Todd and Wadena counties.

The new guidelines from the CDC are for vaccinated Americans as well as unvaccinated.

Yes, even if you have your full course of vaccinations for COVID-19, it is recommended that you wear masks or other face coverings when indoors.

Concerns over the highly contagious Delta Variant of COVID-19 have prompted the recommendations.

A map from the CDC shows the counties and where they are on the scale. Last week Todd County was listed under the “Substantial” category. This week, however, Todd County is in the “High” risk rating while Wadena County remains in the “Substantial” rating.

Most of the state of Minnesota falls into the high or substantial risk categories for transmitting the virus.

The new indoor mask guidelines are recommended within these counties. . .
