Ervasti Section champ as postseason arrives
by Michael Arvidson
The final week of the season was the Bemidji week. A lone dual for the varsity in Verndale on Tuesday against the AAA Lean and Mean Lumberjacks and then the girls heading north for the individual section tournament.
Tuesday was senior night as we acknowledged the hard work and dedication of Isaac Grabow, David Revering, Holden Truax, Zach Mrnak, and Abby Ervasti. They have all put in so much and always have the best interest of the team in mind.
After some exciting JV and girls matches to get the night started, the Lumberjacks chopped first with a pin at 107.
Merrick Hoffman responded with an impressive technical fall followed by Grabow’s decision to give the Raiders the 8-6 lead.
Bemidji would steal the momentum with two close decisions and three six-point matches to open the score up 30-8.
BHVPP picked up a fall from Revering and a major decision from Cayden Kimber to draw within twelve but a forfeit to the Lumberjacks would drop the tree on the Raiders for the evening as Shamp picked up an exciting fall at 215 to round out the scoring at 42-24.
The Raiders are currently ranked #12 and have compiled a 15-13 record through a grueling schedule of tough competition.
Most impressively, we have had two to four starters out every event of the season due to injury and illness.
BHVPP expects to be at full strength this Friday for the first time as the Section 6A team competition plays out in Wadena starting at 3:30 p.m. against Pelican Rapids. #oneforallallforone
