Gappa dies in crash

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on February 19, at 4:57 p.m., a Freightliner Semi driven by Michael John Mallak, 45, of Melrose was traveling westbound on Highway 210 in Tordenskjold Township near German Lake Road.

A Ford pickup, driven by Jacob Paul Gappa, 30, of Parkers Prairie was traveling eastbound and entered the westbound lane, colliding with the semi.

Both drivers were taken to Lake Regions Hospital. Mallak sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Gappa died as a result of his injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Ringdahl Ambulance and Underwood Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
