Chelsea Einerwold has written a poem called “Teachers” that will be published in The Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans. The Anthology features the writing of young people and is published and distributed nationwide.

The Eagle Vally Elementary and High School collected a total of 16 boxes of items to be sent to flood victims. UPS picked up the boxes on Monday and will be taking them to a central drop area for the Salvation Army. A total of $610 was collected and given to the Salvation Army at Breckenridge when Pastor Bonita Orr went there on April 26. Pictured are Dale Svaren, EV Superintendent, Alexia Engen, Charlene Klimek and Emily Klimek packing the supplies.

William “Billy” Swanson a junior at the Clarissa High School, was selected as a delegate to attend Legion Boys State, it was announced this week by Don Anderson, commander of the Clarissa Legion Post 213.

During the heavy snowfall that hit this area last Friday, Glenn Ward got into the Christmas Spirit and turned on his Christmas tree lights. The Independent camera caught this night scene of the Ward home last Friday evening. The big blotches are snowflakes.
