Cleo Schmidt was pretty surprised to find a giant Hubbard squash hanging in her lilac bush. She planned to cook and can it for winter. Cleo’s husband said everything she plants grows to be big and healthy.

The American Legion Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting on September 16 at 7:30 p.m. Glee Reierson, music chairman, had a program and quiz about our Eagle Valley School. Lil Henrich won and received a large beautiful apple and a pencil. They all sang “School Days”. In memory of Jeanette McKindley, the charter was draped for a deceased member.

September 21, 1972
Members of the Parent Teachers Association renewed acquaintances with returning faculty members and extended their greeting to one new teacher, Connie Godding, at the last meeting of the organization of the 1972-1973 school year held on Monday night.

Two events of musical interest are coming soon to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clarissa. On the evening of Sunday, October 1, an organ program will be given by Stephen Gabrielsen of Augsburg College and on October 10, Clarie Hobart, pianist and composer, will present a program.
