Eagle Valley Accelerated Reader high point earners for the month of November were: Travis Cook, grade 1; and Katie Asfeld, grade 2. All School Reading Achievers: Kasha Gabler, Ryan Kasper, Rachel Wagner, Matt Aspengren, Joseph LaVoie, Carlos Espinoza, Kevin Johnson and Jesse McClananhan, grade 5; and Bethany Sales, grade 6.

The Eagle Valley girls basketball team set a new school record in points last Tuesday with a 93-11 victory over St. John’s Prep. The Rebels started quickly, scoring the first 29 points and leading 45-6 at halftime. The lady Rebels had five players in double-figure scoring: Pontius and Schnettler had 20, Dickinson 16, Johnson 14 and Stepaniak added 12. Another key in the game was our free throw shooting as we made 22 out of the 25 free throw attempts.

The Clarissa High School will be introducing a new sport to the public this year. The name of the sport is wrestling and according to the schedule, the first home meet is Thursday, December 14 with Swanville at 1:30 p.m. There will be no charge for the meet. At this time a brief description of wrestling will be given with an explanation of scoring points per individual and team points.

Local residents are urged to enter the annual home Christmas decorating lighting contest which Clarissa Commercial Club is again sponsoring this year. In fact, this will be the 23rd annual lighting contest sponsored by the village.
