Julia Cuchna gave a lesson on animals and habitats to first graders at the Eagle Valley Elementary School last Wednesday. She met with all grades during the day teaching the science lesson which was sponsored by the Bell Museum through the State Department of Education.

The officers of the Clarissa Fire Department were elected last week and the results were: Chief Bob Cuchna Jr., First Assistant Chief Jerry Schnettler, Second Assistant Chief Larry Cook, Third Assistant Chief Gearl Kunerth, Secretary Wayne Yates, Treasurer Leland Adamietz, and Training Officers Mike Peterson and Dennis Parteka. Jerome (Jerry) Schnettler has put in 40 years of service as a member of the Clarissa Fire Department. He joined the department on November 4, 1957.

Two students in Clarissa High School have received notice that their writings have been accepted for publication. Kay Kuhnau, a freshman, has had a poem accepted by the poetry book, Anthology of Young American Sings. Kay is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Kuhnau. Phil Godding, a sophomore, has had an essay accepted by American Speaks. Phil is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Godding.

The Bucs lost a close game against Brooten last Friday night. The Bucs' defense was very effective. Using their press the Bucs forced Brooten into many turnovers. The Bucs, however, failed to score offensively and made only 22 percent of their field goals.
