Eagle Valley High School students who participated in the recent Spelling Bee were: Michelle Holt, the winner; Kirk Hayes, Gabrielle Godding and Tony Winkler. Michelle will be going on to a regional competition.

The Eagle Valley Boy Scouts took first place for sled design in the Klondike Derby and they tied for second place in the sled race. Pictured are Greg Roggenkamp, Tom Holt, Steven Winkler, Lance Dehn, Mark Yates, Kevin Johnson, Brian Yates and Scout Master Wayne Yates. Besides pulling the sled with the leader in it, the boys had other activities to do during the day. The sled was put together with a lashing. The boys spent many hours lashing, using knot-tying skills they had learned.

February 22, 1973
After the district wrestling tournament came to an end last Saturday at Alexandria, Clarissa had one boy qualify for the regional tournament. Harold DeBlieck, at 105 pounds, finished in third place in his division. After winning the first and second rounds, he was decisioned by a boy from Long Prairie. He came back through the wrestle backs to be able to compete on Saturday, the final day of the tournament.

The Clarissa Bucs defeated the Eagles of Grey Eagle last Friday night in a rough basketball game. Clarissa’s good rebounding was the key to the Buc’s success as our shooting from the free-throw line wasn’t up to par. The Bucs then took a defeat from Osakis Tuesday evening with the final score being 57-44.
