The Eagle Valley Elementary Odyssey of the Mind group participated in the Regional competition on February 28 at Sartell Middle School. They received third place ribbons out of 16 schools. They competed in Division I “Create and Animate”. The requirements in this problem included an inanimate object that comes to life, team created song, team created music and team created script. They had eight minutes to set up and perform their play. Besides the play, competition included oral spontaneous problem solving. The group has worked diligently the past four months preparing for competition. The group included Sara Swenson, Cole Sablovitch, Ryan Considine, Jenni Taylor, Joseph LaVoie, Megan Taylor and Kevin Johnson. Coaches were Mrs. Beth Swenson and Mrs. Wanda Hommerding.

On Tuesday evening, March 3, Royal Neighbor members and their guests enjoyed a 6 p.m. potluck dinner at the Heritage Parlors. The occasion marked the 100th year of the Royal Neighbor of America Lodge. Our local camp is Cloverleaf Camp No. 925 and meets the first Tuesday of the month with 17 active members. We are a non-profit organization. We used to meet in the old city hall then the senior center and now at the Heritage.

Nearly 45 years of continuous administering to this community’s ills by one doctor will come to an end next Wednesday as Dr. F.N. Grose announced the closing of his medical office. Dr. Grose, the veteran medical doctor who has served this community so faithfully, announced his retirement this week. He will close his medical office March 15, and his business office March 30.

A make-up Rubella-Rubeola Measles clinic will be held at the Clarissa Public School from 11-11:45 a.m. It is to be held within Todd County due to a sudden influx in the incidence of the disease in Minnesota. The program will be held jointly by the Minnesota State Department of Health, the Todd County Public Health Nursing Service, in cooperation with the local doctors, schools and the school nurses.
