The Eagle Valley Speech Team red ribbon winners placing at Henning were Michelle and Amanda Hartman in drama duo, Arin Stoterau in extemporaneous reading, Amber Benning, first in drama, Amanda Denny fifth in poetry, Sonja Stoterau, red in drama, Julia Moen, red in prose, Jill Pontius and Mike Willie, first in drama duo.

Local entrepreneurs from Clarissa and Eagle Bend are part of a $20 million development project on the east side of Lake Geneva near Alexandria. The development includes a golf course and 79 homes with a view of the lake or golf course. Gary Thompson of Clarissa and Gary Blombeck of Eagle Bend are partners in the golf course portion of the project. They will build an 18-hole golf course portion of the project.

March 29, 1973
“Woodland Vocational Center” is the name selected for the newly formed center school in this area. It was announced this week by the secretary of the organization, Linden Heldt of Eagle Bend. Five area schools are participating in the new center school.

Don Hanson dozed away the topsoil last week for the construction of a new building for the Independent. The structure, a 30 by 210-foot building, will be located on the corner of Main and Frank Streets near the water tower.
