Margaret Johnson started playing the organ at United Methodist Church in Clarissa when she was 13 years old. At the time, there was an old organ there and Margaret said, “It’s the kind you have to pump with your feet.” Later, she and Evelyn Bain went to Alexandria and found an organ at the Carlson Music Center. It is still working today. She said, “I am thankful I have been able to work with Evelyn as an organist in the church all these years. The hymns have changed somewhat and, of course, being old, I like the old hymns best.” She celebrated 80 years of playing the organ at the church.
