The Hoe and Hope Garden Club of Clarissa held their annual plant sale last week. Getting ready for the sale were: Octivia Shimota, Irene Rach, Dot Aspengren, Mary Ann Kotval, Diane Marquardt, Sadie Hokanson, Peggy Moen and Clara Onken.

Perham and Clarissa played like the divisional champs they were a year ago, locking up in a 12-inning struggle Sunday, before the Flyers finished on top, 12-9. Flyers Joe Cuchna started on the hill and pitched well for six innings, and led off the final stanza with a line-drive homer to left to break a 9-9 deadlock. Following a double by Kurt Huhn, winning pitcher Brian Hinzmann duplicated Cuchna’s feat with another rope over the left-field fence.

Host’s Garage will hold an open house in honor of their third anniversary this Friday, May 11. Jane and Jerry Host, owners and operators of the garage, invite all residents of the area to stop in and have free homemade cake and coffee with them on that day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Susan Sticha was selected as one of two youth delegates to represent the Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative on an all-expense paid trip to the nation’s capitol this summer. Susan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Sticha and is a junior at the Clarissa High School.
