Clarissa compiled a 2-1 record over the weekend, moving its record in the Hi-10 to 7-1 with a doubleheader victory at Bluffton on Sunday and a narrow loss at Wadena on Friday evening. The team’s record improved in the East Division as the Braves were limited to seven hits in the two games. Joe Cuchna pitched a four-hitter in the opener and smashed a two-run homer among three hits, as his squad won 5-2.

The Hoe and Hope Garden Club met at the home of Irene Lundquist on June 2. They answered roll call by naming their favorite rose. Mary Ann Kotval won the door prize. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were read and accepted. Six members will attend the sixth district convention at Cross Lake on June 9. They heard an updated report on the upcoming educational trip in Wisconsin in July.

One car was stolen, about 12 cars had their tires slashed and many others were completely ransacked as the cars were left parked in the parking lot at the Clarissa Ballroom last Friday evening.

Rich Foote, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Foote, took second in the discus at the regional track meet held at Perham last Saturday. Rich qualified for the state meet with a throw of 235 feet, five inches. He also took fourth in the shot put.
