Mayor Schnettler passed around copies of letters from the city and from Rural Development to the engineering firm of Widseth Smith and Nolting. The two parties are contesting the firm’s nearly $42,000 bill for engineering last summer’s construction project. The original estimate was $23,000. The city has already paid the bill. Schnettler said the city had advertised for another engineering firm to do the city’s work in the future.

Baseball Commissioner Arlen Kangas presented the Flyers team Manager Keith Hinzmann with an award for winning the Regional Tournament in Detroit Lakes last week.

Winners of a Bible at the Key ‘73 booth at the Todd County Fair sponsored by St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of Clarissa and the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Eagle Bend were Mrs. Arnold Rach of Browerville and Mrs. Don Bacan of Burtrum and Mrs. Mick Waddell of Clarissa.

The entire staff of the Clarissa Independent will be on vacation next week, and the office of the newspaper will be closed beginning Monday, August 27 for the entire week. It will reopen again on Tuesday, September 4.
