Ron Host, formerly of Clarissa, won the 1998 Super Stock Championship at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria. He also won the Midwest Regional Championship for the Winston Short Track Series presented by NASCAR. He won a trip to Nashville, Tennessee for the National Winston Racing Banquet which was held November 4 though 7, 1998 at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.

Theft and vandalism have been prevalent within the village of Clarissa this past week and previous weeks as vandals or burglars, thieves or robbers or whatever you want to call them have been stealing small items and causing minor property damage.

A large crowd attended the “Christmas Special Opening” at the Coast to Coast Store on Tuesday, November 13. Gene Tepley was the winner of the door prize, which was a Motorola transistor radio. Homemade cookies and coffee were served to the guests all day, with candy treats being given to all the kiddies that attended.
