The 1998 wrestling season is underway. The Rebels are down in numbers this year with only 20 wrestlers in grades 7-12. The team has six seniors, five of them are returning letter winners. The Rebels have a new assistant coach this year. Andy Lancaster is a former Clarissa-Eagle Valley wrestler and is replacing Brian Asfeld who has been the assistant at Eagle Valley the last two years. He is a NCAA Division II All American. The Rebels are going into their first match of the season with a young team starting two seventh graders and one eighth grader. They will be wrestling without seniors Eric Denny and Justin Dickinson who are out with injuries.

A little nostalgia showed as Art and Olga Branum signed papers that handed Branum’s Machine Shop to the new owners last week. The Branums started the business in 1946 and have served the Clarissa community for nearly three decades. The transaction was completed on Saturday, November 24. Curtis Wilson of Denver, Colorado and Roger Wilson of Anoka purchased the business from the Branums. The Wilson men are cousins.
