Ken Christensen has been the sales manager at Sunnybrook Auto Sales in Clarissa since October 1. If you don’t recognize Ken from his 28 years of selling cars in the area, you might recognize him as the lead singer and guitar player in the Eagle Valley Playboys band. He has been a member of the band for 34 years. Ken and his wife Cheryl live in Staples. They have four children and five grandchildren.

The Clarissa City Council held a truth in taxation hearing, heard reports and approved a deep fryer for the liquor store. Nobody showed up for the truth in taxation hearing, but Tammy Thibedeau from Tibby’s Cafe voiced her opposition to the liquor store putting in a deep fryer. She said Tibby’s would not close if the fryer were put in, but she did not think it should be turned on during the day while the restaurants were still open.

The Clarissa Police Department would like to remind people of their new telephone number which was published in the Independent some time ago. The new police number is 756-2133. Police Chief Dennis Pooler asks all residents to please write the number in their telephone directory.

The Minnesota Public Service Commission has granted a livestock carrier permit to Gary Hayes. Hayes’ headquarters area shall consist of the municipality of Clarissa and the surrounding unincorporated area.
