Fire Chief Bob Cuchna received approval for a proposal to apply for a $105,000 loan from Rural Development for a new $160,000 fire truck. The city has $30,000 to put toward a new truck and the fire department has $22,000 from the townships to equip the new truck. The townships bought the last new truck 17 years ago for about one-third of the price. The loan is for 12 years at 4.75 percent interest. The fire department will get rid of the 1963 truck which will help the city’s fire insurance rating.
