25 Years Ago

July 28, 1999

The Eagle Valley Elementary School is undergoing a semi-face lift this summer as the old block type windows in the old wing of the building are being replaced. Most of the windows have already been removed and are presently being covered by large pieces of wood until the new windows arrive. The Eagle Valley High School building will also undergo some renovations which will begin the first week in August outside of the building.

  Glenn Kotval of Clarissa has been named to the Governing Board of the First State Bank of Rush City. He has served for 12 years on the local Advisory Board. The local board consists of three members, Kotval being the farm representative. Their capacity is to make recommendations on loan applications. The Governing Board meets monthly in Rush City and reviews bank policy and banking functions. Kotval will be a voice for Clarissa on the bank board. 

 50 Years Ago

August 1, 1974

A former resident of this community, Greg Hayes, was among the 17 troopers graduating from the State Patrol’s 24 trooper candidate school at a ceremony at the training center at Arden Hills on Friday, July 19, Public Safety Commissioner Edward Novak announced this week. Trooper Hayes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hayes of this community and is a 1967 graduate of the Clarissa High School. Greg and his wife live in Audobon.

Dennis J. Feda, executive vice president and cashier at the Farmer’s State Bank, has completed his second and final year of study at the Midwest Banking Institute where he received his certificate of graduation at the graduation luncheon held Friday, July 26.
