August 18, 1999
Troop 354 from Annandale and Troop 219 from Maple Lake stopped in Clarissa to celebrate Dan Peterson’s 12th birthday on August 6. The troops started their 230 mile bike ride in Annandale and were headed to Many Point Scout Camp in Park Rapids. Fourteen scouts made the trip with seven adults.

The Clarissa Flyers played steady baseball Saturday afternoon to gain a 7-1 victory over Nimrod in the Region 14C tournament and earn a repeat trip to the state event Saturday. The Flyers will play at Marshall at 11 a.m., but the opponent has not been determined at this time.

August 22, 1974
There were four delegates from Todd County who attended the Citizenship Short Course (CSC) from August 10-17. The delegates were Randy Meyer, Tim Klassen, Bruce Paskewitz, and Richard Kotula. They were part of a 93 member delegation from Minnesota. This was the fifth delegation from Minnesota to go to CSC this summer. Over 6000 4-H’ers attend CSC during the summer.

A new business venture opened in Clarissa last Monday, that of the Busy Bee Gift Shop. The shop is located on Highway 71 in the former Custom Craft building and is operated by Mrs. Gene Volkman and Mrs. Wayne Burns.
